Biography

Jim and Nancy have owned Doberman since the early 1980’s. They have been instrumental in putting Conformation and other venue titles on their dogs. They ventured into the conformation ring in the early 1990’s. Their Doberman Magic held DPCA Top Twenty status from 1996 to 2000. He was the first of many Top Twenty and Best in Show Winners. By the year 2000, they were seriously thinking of becoming breeders but needed a kennel name. As a dedication to their boy, Magic, Magis Dobermans became a reality.

When Nancy retired from teaching high school English, she decided if she could run a classroom then she could manage a show ring and her desire to become an AKC judge was born. Thanks to the support of her husband Jim, the joy of judging Working and Toy breeds became a reality. Meanwhile, Jim was competing as an owner-handler and showed to their championship both Chinese Cresteds and Min Pins.

Our Doberman are home bred and we are nestled in the small town of Mattapoisett, Mass. overlooking Buzzards Bay. We do not operate a kennel and we take great pride in breeding a sound, standard American Bred Doberman of great temperament. Our red girl Desi is an AKC Champion. Our red boy Kylo became an AKC Champion just over one year old and a Grand Champion in 5 shows.

Our good friends Sandra and Rex Jennings are co-breeders/owners of our boy. Our teenager black girl Vanna is co-bred by the Jennings and co-owned by Jennifer DePietro, who owns Vanna’s Dad Bean. We have also introduced a black puppy named Kenzie to the blend. Currently she is busy playing with her toys and working on basic obedience. She is out of our Ben litter which is also co-bred by the Jennings.

Our family would not be complete without the Boss Lady Martini, the min-pin who rules the roust. Thank you Amy Fields for allowing us to become her parents and giving Jim the opportunity to complete her Championship. Breeding these wonderful velcro animals is our passion. Whether the owners, who become part of our Magis Family are experienced or not, every question important to them is important to us. We are there for them for the life of their doberman.

We are members of DPCA, Pilgrim DPC and Wampanoag, our all breed club. Jim is Conformation Chair for Wampanoag K.C.
